Do I need flame retardancy onboard my superyacht?
Having been in existence for several years most industry professionals have a reasonable understanding of the outline rules for flame retardancy. If in doubt you can contact anyone of our sixteen licensed applicators who will be happy to take you through the ground rules. For the more tricky areas you can contact Neil or me.
How will I know what items need treating?
There are a variety of different fabrics on board. We will advise which are required for treatment. Yacht Protect boasts the only textile specialist in the industry with over 50 years of experience.
How soon can you get here?
Within days if necessary. Because we have more applicators, sixteen to date spread around the key ports, we are able to respond within days, pretty well everywhere. In season this is paramount. During 2020 in the middle of the pandemic, when we were in the unique position of being the only company with an MGN580 compliance certificate, we treated more than 45 yachts as far afield as Florida to Turkey, Martinque to Marseille, Italy, Spain, and France.
We showed superb organisational skills throughout the pandemic last year and will continue to be available in the same way, to service our clients in the years to come.
How competitive is your pricing?
We are VERY competitive and that is why we are one of the most successful in our field. We are one of the few providers that are licenced to issue 2 year Certificates as against 18 months.
What is the validity of your certificate?
As FIRESTOP-PRO ™ is more durable than other treatments we are able to issue Certificates for a period of 24 months. Whilst the MCA would prefer re treatment each twelve months they happily accept 24 months for suitable products.
My Yacht is used for private use only do I still need to apply FR treatments?
A valid question. It`s best to check with your insurer and your flag. However, fire does not differentiate between private or commercially run yachts. We treat many private yachts who wish to meet the standards of a fully commercial yacht, and of course, have that extra peace of mind.
